Where to Find Them?
They are basically everywhere around us. They prefer to stay in places with damp soil and covered with leaf litters. They do not prefer places with arid condition or too wet. They may present in woodlands, parks, town, nursery, roadsides or even your garden backyard. They do not prefer grasslands, riverbanks and wet woodlands. Try to flip over substrate on ground or disturb the soil surface and you will find them crazily hopping around in the air.

Land Hoppers and Springtails
Both species live on soil surface and hops into the air once disturbed, so please don't mix them up. They are different species.
Sometimes when you are looking for land hoppers, you might see some white tiny thing hopping into the air when you disturb the leaf litters. Take a closer look, they might not be land hoppers, instead they are the springtails (Collembola).
Two characteristics that defined the two species:
Land hoppers: Larger in size and typically darker in colour.
Springtails: smaller in size and is white in colour.
